The first time I saw Doom was on the Sega 32X at a friend's house when he was playing the level "Spawning Vats". The first time I played it was in the summer of 1995 at my Dad's office where a co-worker had it on his computer. He showed me the cheat codes and how to reach the secret exit in e1m3. I played it on and off over the next several years (usually with cheat codes) and downloaded level editors, but I had no idea how to use them (I didn't even know how to play a custom level). In 2004 I picked up the game again on jDoom and then started playing online coop on ZDaemon. Shortly after, I downloaded Doom Builder and finally learned how to make levels with the included tutorial. Since then, I've released many challenging new levels year after year while also recording demos (speedrunning) on virtually all of them. At the end of 2018, I had to stop using a mouse due to arm pain and eventually switched to a trackball. Because of this, my playing skills have dropped and I don't spend much time making new levels anymore, but my goal is to still release something new each year.

While playtesting this map and recording a demo, my arm pain was getting increasingly worse. I'm super proud of this trilogy, for building the maps and beating the maps with demos. Map28 is called "dholes" because I liked eating donut holes during that time. Map29 was so big for my old computer that I separated it into two halves in order to make editing easier and then combined them at the end. The sf3 versions of these maps were slightly edited, so play my original versions in esp.wad for authenticity. Favourite level: map28

It's a very good-looking remake of Quake e1m2 that I built while looking in Quark and it only uses Doom textures. Favourite level: map03

zdoom -- This is a remake of the first dungeon from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the N64. I had Zelda playing on an emulator on a laptop while I built the map on a desktop computer. I used the in-game map and a ruler to figure out the general size and shape of each room, though there are some differences in appearance. The biggest difference is in monster placement, with the remake being more action oriented.

There's also a plasmagun now, but every jump is possible with only rockets. Map06 is a remake of masterjumps mp06 that I updated in the same way by making every jump bigger and harder. I started by building a replica of doom2 map01 from scratch with no copy/pasting from the original (I had two instances of doom builder open with both maps and checked line lengths and vertex coordinates for authenticity), then I added new stuff. One area is a remake of a room from Quake e3m3 that I built by looking at the level in-game. One of the puzzles involves playing a specific sequence of notes on a piano. Smedley is the name of a racer from Road Rash 64.

The map has several independent areas with various jumps and there were going to be teleporters in the start room that lead to each area. Designing a map for online play meant you were really limited with the number of monsters and the size. With single player mapping, you were only limited by your computer's power. These slaughtermaps feature required rocket jumping and this was my first wad that I included demos for. Favourite level: map03

zdaemon -- These are the first slaughtermaps I ever made. I had been playing exclusively on infinite ammo coop servers with wads like coopbuild and av where there's a lot of action and you're able to die and respawn. The three of us each independently made our own mini-episode of maps in that style and then ended up combining them into a megawad to play on the server I had been using for my wad. Favourite level: map22
